Laoag / Vigan

Laoag is the capital of Ilocos Norte located in the Northern part of the Philippines. Laoag comes from the word light as the sun shines brightest in this province. This historical town is about 397 miles from Manila and known to be the birthplace of former President Ferdinand Marcos. Ilocos Norte is blessed with rich marine life (shells, giant turtles, seaweeds, starfishes, tuna, and a variety of fishes.

Nearby, is the city of Vigan, known for its preserved Spanish colonial and Asian architecture. Calle Crisologo dominates the district with its cobblestone streets, malecon, horse drawn carriages and rustic mansions. This historic town is part of the UNESCO World Heritage, richly influenced by good mix of Filipino, Chinese and Spanish culture. It is also home to several Baroque styled Catholic Churches built during the Spanish era.
